Report on ROHRZ Reading National Fundraiser – 30th July 2016

ROHRZ fundraising national team in conjunction with Reading branch members successfully held a fundraising event on 30th July 2016 at Pakistani Hall in Reading. The event began at 2 pm and lasted until 11:30 pm.

A large number of people from various parts of the country attended and registered their support for the event. Representatives from ROHRZ National Executive Committee including Secretary General Patricia Masamba, Jonathan Kariwo, Xoliso Sithole and others were present to ensure a reverberating day. Cde Tino Mashonganyika was the master of ceremonies. He took the opportunity to remind people of the forthcoming ROHRZ / Vigil Brighton to London 100 km walk on 12/13 August 2016 and the Biennial National Conference on 21/23 October 2016.

The National Fundraising Deputy Head, Cde Nicodimus Muganhu gave a solidarity speech and defined the aims of ROHR Zimbabwe. Members of the Kenyan community were also present and shared their thoughts on unity for all humanity. They showed interest in joining ROHRZ and praised our displays.

There were many activities lined up to entertain everyone: dancing shows, modelling, raffle ticket draws and music for different tastes. It was family time for some as they brought their children to share in the day. Competition winners such as Shyline Sipada, Alice Shimika, Nkhosi Tshabangu and others scooped the top prizes. Drinks, delicious meals including barbecued meats sold like hot cakes at affordable prices.

A mini birthday party was also held for Cdes Sihle Sibanda, Joshua Kahari and Tino Mashonganyika who were all born in July. The three members were presented with a large birthday cake from ROHRZ Reading branch. A get well soon message was sent to ROHRZ Vice Chairperson Enniah Dube and everyone wished her a quick recovery from her recent medical surgery.

A vote of thanks and closing prayer ended the day.
